what made the first DRUGS album so good for me, was the backup vocals from Matt and Nick, without that it is hard to really see it as the same band. overall this new track definitely is a similar style and a pretty decent continuation, but it's definitely missing a few things that would make it great.
Destiny is now fully stuck in my head.. I did not see this coming as someone who isn’t the biggest Craig fan (Illuminaudio FTW) and thought the first record had 2-3 decent tracks. I also thought the entire track list names were so contrived that I rolled my eyes when I first read it. Craig is nowhere near as relevant as he used to be a decade ago so if this record is on par with Destiny - I’ll be pulling for him to get some fans back on board. Craig being an underdog in 2022 - the future is wild lol
yeah as someone that has enjoyed most of Craig's projects, I could not get into the DRUGS album at all. However, I will say I'm digging the new track quite a bit. Wonder if a full album is in the works?
yes, i believe they postponed their tour a few months so they could spend more time finishing the new album
I thought the first D.R.U.G.S album was great - basically a more simple Chiodos - but the lyrics really haven't aged well. If I recall then 'King I Am' is actually an older song, they've just held onto it for a while. Not sure it'll appear on the new album. As a side-note, Craig Owens also did a really heavy project he didn't really promote much called Bea5t. Easily the heaviest material he's done, and definitely worth checking out if that tickles your fancy.
i was always into this project i just think the name could have been better. i asked him years ago if he was going to put out a second ep and i think he said yes.
Saw the Velocity tour tonight and I have two thoughts: 1) I was worried DRUGS was gonna feel like karaoke with all the new members, but that’s funny to me now because I never pay attention to anyone but Craig when he’s on stage 2) I actually really loved Scary Kids Scaring Kids apparently? I thought I knew like 3 songs but all the songs they played from the first two albums I didn’t just *kind of* know, they were like ingrained in me
SKSK are definitely an enjoyable band, they only have two albums total though. Not sure you know, but their singer passed away since then also
Oh ya I know. For context they played about 5 or 6 new songs tonight from an upcoming album. I just didn’t realize how much I was into those first two albums. It’s probably been 5+ years since I’ve listened to them besides My Darkest Hour and the Only Medicine. I’ll always wish I could’ve seen them with Tyson though
Which also confuses me cus I thought Craig Mabbit was originally singing on this tour but now it’s Kurt Travis so if they have an album coming I’m very confused who’s singing on it
Ooooh I had no idea they were working on new music, now I have to wonder who with also. New songs sound good?
Ya they sounded pretty decent. Idk if I felt like they had the same Scary Kids flare that made the band stand out or not but the songs were fun enough and I had a good time so I’ll reserve my judgment
I'm hijacking this to make it the Scary Kids Scaring Kids thread again lol... they have a new single with Lil Lotus on vocals out on Tuesday! From what I've heard, their new album will feature a different guest vocalist on each song.
Interesting that’s kind of intriguing. I’m interested to check it out, but sounds like it could be fun
Interesting. I thought Cove Reber was confirmed to be their new vocalist, but I guess he was just onboard for their 15-year anniversary tour?
DRUGS album is out June 17th. They released another new song today - I think I like it even more than Destiny, starting to get pretty hyped for this.
