Kris Crummett has confirmed it was a full re-record. I thought I'd get clarity and I'd seen in some places it was just and remix and remaster, bar the vocals of course, and in other places I saw it was a total re-record. Just head to the 39:44 mark.
Thanks for asking! Definitely still a lot of questions about it but since he only mastered it I don't think he really knew the details of it.
So… any new opinions on Craig’s live performance? He clearly lip synced most the AWTEW tour, but videos from summer festivals seem to indicate he’s actually singing more. I can get BOGO tickets on the next leg of the tour, but I’m still very jaded from WWWY last year.
Was it ever confirmed he lip synced a show let alone a whole tour?? If so, that’s kind of next level lame for me, to the point of writing him off as a musician altogether. It’s already lame enough that he’s touring under the Chiodos banner without the blessing of the dudes and re-recording an entire album that he very much didn’t write on his own. However, if he’s charging fans $50 for a ticket to a tour he’s lip syncing? That’s the final nail in the coffin for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There’s no question the majority of the tour was lip synced. Videos from recent-ish festivals still have the backing track, but he is clearly singing (I’m iffy on the screams tho). I just wonder if the video mix is different from live mix update: this video from the crowd again seems like he is singing, with the track there but not as prevalent as before
I am so freaking bad at this. Where can you hear the backing track here? Also, am I crazy for feeling like those drums are altered? Like that's not how drums sound?
The Warped Tour audio sounds like really bad phasing between what the up close mics are picking up and the onstage mics. You can hear it across all the instruments and vocals.
I was making plans to go see this show in a couple weeks before checking the last few pages of this thread. Feeling conflicted now, mostly due to the re-record erasure and glorified karaoke backing-track aspect of this. Not to mention it's like $65 for a ticket. YIKES
It was a good time. Honestly do not think he was lip syncing and he sounded really good. Once the music starts, the drama doesn't matter. The crowd had lots of energy for each band which was nice considering the strange combination. I'm glad they came to my town and I got to go!
