I don't know what I was thinking when I said a bit ago that Song 8 doesn't sound finished, I pivoted hard and now I'm addicted to that chorus. Lyrics actually sound complete unlike a lot of the other leaks too Definitely including this on my album I thought about doing that too because my album is currently 88 minutes long lol but I actually really like how eclectic it feels, all of these songs sound so different but also sound so united by that kind of tribal/electro feel, it actually really is cohesive. I'm just gonna keep it as a big epic album that's all over the place but also all works well together; it's Donald's Notes on a Conditional Form for me now lol I would be curious how you would split the songs between the two albums though
Spirits by Childish Gambino 1. We Are 2. Atavista* 3. Algorhythm 4. Time (feat. Ariana Grande) 5. All Night* 6 Vibrate 7. Summertime Magic* 8. Saturday* 9. Beautiful 10. Sweet Thing / Thank You 11. Shock (formerly known as Warlords before the actual Warlords leaked; this is that weird chanting song) 12. This Is America* 13. Little Foot 14. Why Go to the Party 15. Human Sacrifice* 16. Feels Like Summer 17. Die With You* 18. The Violence 19. The Sun* (my name for Song 8) 20. Under the Sun 1 hour and 28 minutes long Notes: - Songs with * are not originally on the album - The original version of Algorhythm without the robotic vocals and with the choir and extended outro is evidently leaking very soon and if the quality is truly CDQ I will probably replace the album version with this one. There is also a fully CDQ Die With You that is a minute longer and has more added to the production leaking soon so I'll almost definitely use that one - I cut the Why Go to the Party intro from the 8 minute version of Human Sacrifice to keep the full song before it; the piano outro of WGTTP actually flows into that new piano intro of HS quite nicely - I meticulously went through the tracklist to make sure this flows really well and I think it turned out great. Tried my best to keep the weird transitions between the songs from the actual version of the album - Jesus Christ I am fucking nuts, no other artist does this to me
very nice. I would've had Warlords on instead of Shock which I honestly think sucks as a studio song, it only worked live. apart from that we're on similar trains of thought here mine aren't quite finished yet, there's fucking so many options to play with lmao. I'm also waiting on that longer Die With You to drop, and eventually hopefully a CDQ All Night that doesn't cut off at the end would also be cool
I honestly never really considered using Warlords, it kind of just meanders and Donald is barely even on it. I did find a version of All Night where someone edited in a fade-out that works well enough for me (that I cannot find again for the life of me, sorry). And yeah once Die With You CDQ leaks I'll put that on, then I'll decide which version of Algorhythm I use, and then this album will officially be complete This will honestly rival BTI for me once it's done. I am fully, 100% convinced he intentionally sabotaged this album for some reason
I was going to cut my own version of some of the leaked tracks into an album but after reading about yours I just want that version haha Human Sacrifice is so good
casual fan of this project but big fan of Donald in general. I'm just curious, why do you think he intentionally sabotaged the original album? I had the same thought when it came out but I wasn't sure. Do you think it's to draw out more fan engagement like yours--and he wants us to wade through all the different versions and unreleased material?
also same it blows my mind that he wrote a song as good as Saturday but decides to scrap it, but he thought California was good enough to release
I really don't have a good reason as to why. Could be classic label issues... his father died around that time and maybe that made him want to scrap stuff? It just makes no goddamn sense that he made an album this potentially good, then cut all of the songs that would feasibly be a single (Saturday, Human Sacrifice, Die With You, etc) and then released it without warning with no album art, name or song titles It has to be intentional
Okay yes I am definitely using this version of Algorhythm, it makes the album version feel unfinished which is the opposite effect that most leaks have lol
I worked on a tracklist last night and got it put together in iTunes. Going to use the same artwork as @tdlyon used. I haven't played around with a tracklist like this in awhile. I love the feeling I get when I get locked in a focused on perfecting metadata and a track list haha. I just named it Almanac. Atavista Algorithm v3 Good Music Warlords Ay Ya Nightlife All Night Human Sacrifice [6:35 version - I like the 8 min version but prefer the no/less autotune outro] Capitalism (This is America) Infinity Feels Like Summer [Feat Travis Scott] Saturday Love Bug Valentine (Summertime Magic) Do Whatever You Want Die With You v4 Song 8 1h 11m I never connected with 3.15.20 at all. Listened maybe 1.5 times. Just wasn't in to it. Kind of same goes for Awaken My Love. I want to try again with those. However I'm really feeling the leaked stuff. Makes me as or almost as excited as when I just discovered him with Camp and then BTInternet. (EDIT: Forgot to add Capitalism....)
couldn't agree more. i remember thinking this back in early days of iTunes and iPods. the best data entry exercise there is.
