well. lol, I definitely don't agree with that but it's a solid album. I would love to get more rappy Childish. I actually think his mixtapes (Royalty and STN MTN) are better rap releases than BTI
I get wanting to control the narrative. But, as a journalist, an artist interviewing themselves makes me want to want into the ocean.
BTI definitely has great tunes, and is a huge step up from Camp, but man the six track stretch of Playing Around through Zealots really kills the momentum for me. Cut those (and the 4 second "intro") and you have an amazing 12 track album.
that's my favourite stretch of the album lmao. especially No Exit, might be my favourite song of his overall now the last 3 tracks I could probably live without
That was the most Donald Glover thing I've read in a long time. I don't think it's really meant to be so much of an "interview" than like a written piece giving updates on his life I LOVE the fact that he specifically said he's been rapping and doing features lately. That's all I've wanted for years now. Speaking to the other topic, BTI is one of my favorite albums of all time so I'll let him compare it to any album that he wants lol
Just listened to the because of the internet for the first time in awhile. Two thoughts - The middle hook of Flight of the Navigator has a similar sound to the hook of White Ferrari & I never noticed until now. - Would it be too much to ask Donald to collaborate with Bon Iver? Think there’s some potential there.
Black Party is dope so that's very exciting I bet Donald drops some music in around December when Atlanta ends
That's a straight up BTI flow, so fucking good to hear him rapping again. From this, the Latto song and the 21 Savage song I think it's pretty safe to say he's rapping on the next one
I was just at a Billie Eilish show and he came out to perform Redbone! Was that his first time performing since 2019? Made me miss him
He was tweeting about his next album like over a year ago so he's at least working on something, although he keeps taking on new acting roles so who knows And I doubt Saturday is ever officially released at this point lol
also for the completionists out there. his previously lost first mixtape (3 years before Sick Boi) leaked recently haven't heard it yet, gonna assume it's not great lmao but a fun piece of history:
