I wonder if Algorythm is like, intro/walk on music for the show. That's what it sounds like to me. Guess we find out soon enough.
He likes to use lots of holograms and projections and other shit at his shows, could see that filling in the song a lot more live
interesting timing after Nike just dropped with Colin Kaepernick after Adidas said they would only want Colin if he was signed with an NFL team
I think this is just him retiring the Gambino name, which I get it's evolved so much in 7 years I can see him being done with it
Just got home from the show. That was such an amazing show. Might sound ridiculous but I legit started tearing up during it......it's just so crazy to me that I first saw this kid perform 7 or 8 years ago, back when he was just this nerdy rapper playing to a room of maybe 400 people....then tonight comes and it's his first of two sold out nights at the world famous Madison Square Garden, and he's playing a brand new song that none of the 18,000 people there had ever heard before, but still everyone was dancing and going wild, and the stage starts rising up and hes floating above the crowd......like that made me so proud of him to see how much he's evolved as an artist in less than a decade.
I honestly think he's finished with music in general from the sounds of it. I don't know if he'll stick with that years from now but I think that's his intention right now at least
Went to the tour tonight and holy fucking shit, one of the best shows I've ever seen (though I have an obvious extreme bias) I saw him on the BTI tour in 2014 and while I may have liked that setlist slightly better this show just fucking blew me away. It's insanely unfair how talented this dude is lol. I had floor seats and had a perfect view too, when he came down onto the floor during Redbone he was literally right in front of me and I'm not gonna lie I freaked out lol The new stuff sounded fucking fantastic too. He opened with the full version of Algorythm and he raps two verses in it, and if the studio version is even half as good as the live version it will be one of my favorite Gambino songs. He also did another new song that was almost like electro-funk with some gospel elements and it was also incredible I really hope he's lying/changes his mind about this being his last tour I love this dude so much lol
I heard he hurt his ankle at the show on sunday and Im really hoping it doesnt affect my show tomorrow...
Childish Gambino Halts Tour Due to Serious Foot Injury Not sure how legit this is... but TMZ is reporting he aggravated an existing injury and broke his foot so if so, I’m not shocked.
makes me think his foot is probably broken and the last 9 dates f the tour will get rescheduled for like 2019. what makes it interesting is that I had an inclining that maybe he might release a new record in December, and we will then have heard it before this tour.
Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about a band/musician cancelling a show over an injury that doesn't affect their actual sound? I always see things like "we can't give you the show you deserve." If that news comes out a month in advance, that's fine. But the night before or day of? I've called off work, hired a sitter, made accommodations, etc. I'd rather come out and listen to your tunes with you singing in a chair than have to go through all that again in a few months.
