That one jaden smith song and black skinhead are way more similar. This is similar but not convinced he ripped it off.
The structure and ideas of the songs are very similar but the music itself doesn’t actually sound all that similar to me. If you put me on the spot, I’d probably say Bino lifted some elements from this song but I don’t think parallel thinking is out of the question. The rap sections of both songs are mostly generic and the melodic sections don’t really sound alike at all.
Its really all structure, and having sets of 16 bars between a sung chorus is not ripping off a song in any way. I just do not see it.
The subject matter, title, choir singing, high hat beats being off kilter, etc... Be real: what are the chances a song was written two years after another that both share all of those things? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills when I read that people “can’t hear it”
Yeah I'm sure I sound like a fanboy but the two songs are definitely similar but not so much so that it CAN'T be a coincidence imo. The fact that the song only had like 3000 views before today kind of adds to that too The song is actually hella dope though, glad some good could come from this lol
I mean, the subject matter is pretty standard for hip hop. The titles really aren’t very similar besides having ‘America’ in them. Using a choir isn’t uncommon. Really the only thing that raises an eyebrow for me is the structure, but the structure isn’t so original that it couldn’t be a case of parallel thinking.
i didn't listen too closely but it didn't really strike me as a blatant ripoff i still realllllllly don't like childish gambino though
“The internet is a place of no consequences. I hate that Toronto Akademiks/every white blogger can say something as gospel and y’all take it. This song is 3 yrs old, and we have Pro Tools files to prove it.”
I want to make it clear that the "guy he's referring to's" twitter handle is "Ahmed/Toronto Akademiks/Every White Blogger"
