lol @MexicanGuitars they’re not even saying you must wear a mask if you’re in vaxxed, only recommending it
24 hours doesn't make any sense, it's a 3 day festival. Are they supposed to go do a test each day on their way to the park? Also, imagine what would happen if suddenly 100K people in Chicago will urgently need to take tests for 3 days straight... Can the city accommodate such a large number of tests per day?
There are testing sites all over the city plus at home tests are easy to buy and give results quickly, so 24 hours wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Plus it’s not 100k taking tests since a good amount of attendees are probably vaccinated. With only needing to provide one test, you could test negative when you first take the test but actually be positive a day or two or three days after. You aren’t required to take another test so you would have no idea. That’s why 72 hours only is an awful idea for a large scale event like Lollapalooza.
Can’t wait to be fucked in 1.5 weeks because Lori once again put the interests of capital before public safety.
I’m at Thalia Hall right now and there’s a sign right when you go up the stairs that says “Thalia Hall strongly recommends everyone wear a mask inside the venue” and only like 1/4th (if that) of attendees are actually wearing a mask. I was here about two weeks ago and they had no mask policy and told me it wasn’t necessary when I asked if I needed to wear one inside. I wonder if something happened and they had to change their position. It’s wild that venues aren’t mask or vax only.
It ultimately sounds like it correlates with the latest CDC guidance which is ultimately just a strong recommendation without any teeth for enforcement. But yeah, I'm starting to reconsider any shows I have coming up despite being vaxxed and still wearing a mask anywhere that's not my home or office (employer has a vax mandate).
same, I have been fully vax'd since I think March and I just put my JEW after show ticket up. I have a younger daughter and I can't risk her getting this from me unknowingly and then me sending her to day care and spreading it to those kids.
Is it easy to put tickets up on StubHub? Thinking of doing so for my white reaper show ticket at Subt
Don't go to Lollapalooza. i have probably more empathy with people who want to do things like go to a music festival rn than i ought to, mostly because i think that every response becomes rational when you’ve gotten as many mixed messages and false starts as we have over the past 18 months, but this is a good and thoughtful piece imo.
Sweet, think I’m just gonna do this then. While I like White Reaper I’m going solo and they’re getting streamed on Hulu tomorrow. My next show isn’t until September anyways so hopefully will have a better idea of the delta situation by then
Last show I went to me and the whole group chat got a cold, so even if you're vax'd there's still some bad things that can happen to our collectively weakened immune systems. Stay safe out there
yep, basically where I landed. I just can't bring myself to risk it and I talked to the metro and theyre not doing vax proof or mask required. Their stories gave me insane anxiety over whatever show they were posting about yesterday. Julien is my next show and I believe thats end of September as well.
Legit can’t believe I sold my White Reaper ticket in 2 hours but I did put up for $50 under the next lowest price
I wonder how they will announce the COVID numbers during and post Lolla... It won't be a good look for Lightfoot if the numbers will spike right after the fest
