To give people a preview of what riot fest and lolla will look like for crowds. This was last night at Windy City smokeout
After a few months of driving by me and my wife finally went in. Wasn't at all what I was expecting, it was much better actually. They had great Punchki (Paczki) and the ice cream was great too. For some reason it's really hard to find good ice cream places around.
I gotta say I am getting cold feet about the White Reaper aftershow. Anyone know if the associated Lolla venues are also requiring proof of vax/negative test?
I was at Sleeping Village last weekend and I took my vax card out and they said they aren't checking for them anymore (they were when I was there just a few weeks prior). I heard that Smartbar was checking vax cards (so I assume Metro falls under that) but nothing confirming so from Metro themselves. The fact that venues haven't come out and said anything makes me think none will be checking.
If vaccinated people can still get sick and there's no vaccine effective enough to help then anything except locking everyone down will not suffice in ending this. Since nobody wants that happening then people will have to learn to live with that. Putting masks on people won't stop the spread as long as there are still so many unvaccinated people and the virus can still infect a large portion of the population.
I don’t want to go into another lockdown and I doubt any other Chicagoans do either but if Lori is saying once we hit 200 cases a day we will go back to a mask mandate and/or lockdown I can’t see how letting Lollapalooza happen is a good idea.
Also there are lots of bands coming here on tour in the coming weeks/months and the uncertainty of whether another lockdown or mask mandate will happen sure does not help those touring artists! I understand that it will be done for the safety of others but it just sucks for artists and people just trying to do their jobs. It sucks she’s saying this now, less than a week out from Lolla when tons of people already have flights/hotels/etc. booked and tons of artists are already on the road or gearing up to be to head to Chicago.
Lightfoot will continue to allow large scale capital to operate uninhibited but will have no problem shutting down smaller businesses that don’t mean anything to bankrolling her campaign or suiting her interests
We’ve got a gig set at sleeping village for august 10 but I’m wondering at what point the venue/bill should shut it down
So as my above posts may suggest…I do not have the comfort level of going to a show just yet. Have a white reaper Lolla aftershow ticket for Saturday, will put it up for face value for any Chorus folk/your contacts.
The fact that there’s no clear answer on this is bad They should make it 24 hours and people not vaxxed just deal with it.
