walgreens does nothing. I even asked if they wanted my essential letter or to know what I did to qualify and she said "nope." Pretty much the same experience for every one else I know that went there. I think its just a numbers game for them where they want to get as many vax'd as possible.
Big wave of shows getting announced. Hoping things are safe enough to catch ‘em/for them to actually happen.
Definitely hyped for those Julien Baker shows to happen if i can feel safe enough by then to go. Also:
I'm not sure why (well, they are my PCP but I'm 35 with no medical issues to speak of) but I got an email from Northwestern Medicine on Friday saying I could schedule my vaccine appointment and I was able to get my first Pfizer shot this morning downtown. Was pleasantly surprised with how smoothly everything went - the longest part of the whole process was sitting in "observation" for 15 minutes to make sure I didn't have a reaction.
WBEZ is investigating the use of racial covenants and deeds — legal agreements meant to keep Chicagoans of color out of white neighborhoods. They're asking homeowners all over the city to do some research and share it for a project. Got shot #2 of the Pfizer vax at Rush yesterday. It’s very orderly there. They have all the seating spaces out, hand everyone a second mask, and it’s pretty quick in-and-out time. Paying for parking was a bit of a bummer lol but all in all it took me about 30 minutes both shots. haven’t had bad side effects. Some soreness around the arm, that’s really about it.
Damn this makes me miss shows. EDIT: but unlike most shows I have to do this for, I actually got through. Gonna be drivin' down to Tinley like it's Warped Tour '05 next week.
Seems maybe like a good move considering variants and cases are going off like Michigan and British Columbia here, but fed straight up need to move more vaccine doses in here.
My best friend is a social worker in Chicago. The entire staff he manages is fully vaccinated (+ 2 weeks) He just found out two of them tested positive for covid. He spent the morning on the phone with the cdc who told them they suspect it must be the South African variant.
If you live in/near Lombard you need to go. The original location is in my hometown on the south side and it’s the best. Chicago's Rainbow Cone Ice Cream Shop Opens New Suburban Location
