"Eligible" is certainly different than "We have enough shots for every adult on May 1" haha.

I do think there's some truth to them not having the amount of doses they want, but their rollout hasn't been great anyway.

Would highly suggest everyone get on their alderman's email list. Was able to get the first dose of the vaccine yesterday all because my alderman emailed about hosting a vaccination drive.

My alderman just posted a pic of him getting the vaccine like 3 hours ago so i signed up for the email list really quick.

Good luck! Not sure how frequent they'll be, but worth a try. Hopefully it picks up with more doses coming.

Fyi, was just at a Jewel in the burbs and multiple people were shopping without masks, and none of the employees were doing a damn thing about it. Not sure if this is a company-wide shift in policy or not but it was basically Texas in there.

So i only have one kidney, and because of that Rush - which must have done a patient database search and typed in KIDNEY and email blasted every name that came up - reached out to me saying i could get my first shot on Thursday. I didn’t even think about that, was planning to just wait until they made it available for everyone here in Chicago/Illinois.

I’ll post about the experience so that anyone goes to Rush knows what to expect.

So my voter registration/driver's license has me still in the suburbs, though i have an active Chicago lease and put that as my primary address for the census. Hoping between the Chicago 1c eligibility and this i'll be able to get it in April.

Gonna be fun when the state announces we can't get there because of the Fourth COVID wave and the suburbs and downstate proceed to go/stay 100% capacity and murder everyone anyways.

Nice to see that Marz is one of the businesses that gets it.

It’s difficult to pin down how many bars and restaurants have stayed closed for indoor service in and around Chicago, but they include Lula Cafe, Middle Brow Bungalow and Paulie Gee’s in Logan Square; Avondale’s Honey Butter Fried Chicken; Irving Park sandwich shop JT’s Genuine; and Edzo’s Burger Shop in Evanston. The chain of Uncle Remus Saucy Fried Chicken restaurants has done the same.

Bars The Whistler, Sleeping Village, Best Intentions and Delilah’s also have yet to open indoors, along with breweries Off Color, Begyle, Dovetail, Half Acre, Solemn Oath, Marz Community Brewing and Hopewell.

Chicago restaurants and bars are allowed to open up for more indoor dining, but many are choosing to wait. Here’s what it will take to reopen their doors.

Given the Marszewski brothers grew up in Bridgeport in the 70's and 80's, and are half-Korean, they are undoubtedly, and unfortunately, no strangers to anti-Asian sentiment. I mean just look at this article about Maria (their mom) from a few years ago:

Bridgeport didn't take kindly to Maria Marszewski when she took over Kaplan's Liquors in 1987. The wives of some of her earliest customers at the then 48-year-old tavern and packaged-goods store weren't pleased to hear reports of the lovely new lady tending bar.

"It was bad," she says. "People were bad to me. Open up the door and—'Hey, Chinese, get the hell out of my neighborhood!'" But Marszewski was no poltroon. "I never said nothing. I just smiled and said thank you."
