I was at the riots in Chicago today. Can confirm: they are good.

 

Because just peaceful protests don’t usually do shit. They didn’t work with Travyon Martin or Mike Brown or Alton Sterling or Eric Garner. Sometimes to get people’s attention you have to make noise, and by noise I mean violence.

there is nothing wrong with rioting against systemic oppression. corporations like target and Louis vitton are not your friends. you really don't have to turn into a corn cob defending them this badly.

My gf works for a Latino charity organization in Edgewater (where we both live) and was told that they’ll be closed for the foreseeable future due to threats. Hope everyone stays safe.

 

Well the North Side is wild tonight... I don’t think I’m getting much sleep.

 

Yeah, a lot going on here in Logan. I keep hearing that there are gangs out but they’re mostly protecting certain businesses from what I’m being told. Was in Uptown for the protest earlier, and that was mostly peaceful at least when i was there

 

Police scanner has been really interesting to listen to the past few days.

 

Yeah the protest was super peaceful when I was there but as soon as the actual protest moved off of Broadway and onto LSD the police followed and then looting started.

Broadway from Sheridan to Wilson is a major hotspot right now by the sounds of the scanners.

Wrigleyville is a nightmare now...does someone come around and inspect all these bars to make sure they are social distancing or is it just based on trust? Because that shit is not working.

I cancelled my CTA monthly pass and have been walking to and from work every day and occasionally ubering. I'm so glad I don't have to walk through Wrigleyville anymore.
