I’m in the city but haven’t divorced from a car yet haha. I’m northwest Lakeview/Roscoe/North Center area.

 

You're not that far from me, actually. I'm in Lincoln Square. Wilson and Western.

 

That's awesome haha. I actually really like the area. I like having quick access to the busier parts when needed, but I am tucked away on a quiet street (Hermitage and Addison). Walking 5 minutes to Trader Joe's is super convenient. We may have to meet up sometime. I'm still pretty new to Chicago. It's been about 6 months now.

 

how do you like LS? My finance are looking to move that way - she's from close to there and I just want to be in the city. We've done the west loop/wicker/now south loop thing so looking to check out a new area too.

 

I absolutely love it. There is plenty to do and see (bars, restaurants, mom and pop shops) but it finds that happy balance between feeling very "city" and sorta small town-ish. Rent isn't too pricey, which is funny because the houses cost millions and are gorgeous to boot.

I'd be happy to give any pointers or recommendaitons. I am re-upping my lease in May and my lady is moving in with me. We both adore the neighborhood.

 

The little bit of time I have spent in LS/Ravenswood area has been very nice. I like that area as well. Lots of cool bookstores In that general area.

Same, I live in North Center/Lincoln Square area but have to drive to O'Hare Area for work, if not further depending no jobsite. Also, family is in Indiana so go there a fair bit.

 

Christ you live right by one of my friends. I've been there numerous times in the past 2 years lol

 

While this thread is active, Mexican Guitars will be looking to move back to the city this spring (tentatively). Anyone looking for roommates or w/ friends of friends doing so plz lmk.

 

For how big Chicago is, I have had a lot of small world moments here in a relatively short time.

NWS Chi just reported this inch-an-hour a band is supposed to stay over the area btw I-88 and I-80 till 5.

 

I've never been to Chicago, but I've heard Pitchfork is amazing. Thinking of maybe going this summer

Based on other similar festival lineups, I'll probably go to Pitchfork this year.

Police involved shooting and death at the Thompson Center today. Fucking crazy.

 

I was there trying to grab lunch when the police had us evacuate.

I’ll be in town in August for the Gaslight Anthem show at the Riviera. Always love coming to Chicago, gonna try and hit up a few breweries during the day.

 

Are you staying near the Riviera? To knock out a bunch of breweries these are all close to each other and close-ish to the venue: Corridor/Dovetail/Begyle/Band OF Bohemia/Half Acre (2 locations!)/Spiteful.

 

I'm considering staying close to it, I still need to book my hotel but that's the plan as of now. I definitely want to hit up Half Acre for sure, I haven't heard of the others so I'll need to check those out.

 

If you're looking for just a bar to hit up before/after the show: Hopleaf and Fat Cat are your best bets.
