Yeah, I'm with you. Putting it there without major transit improvements is a fucking mess. Division bridge will be closed soon, North is hammered with a detour right now, Blue line is 15 minutes away as well, you're halfway between two bus lines which isn't ideal... I've been saying for years we need to bring back the Elston bus route.
16 on Center (Salt Shed owner amongst many other venues) was also sued recently for employment discrimination.
I had 60 people show up, we packed 1000 kits in 30 minutes! We've also been collecting non-perishables and pet supplies for people who can't leave their homes. Whistle kits will be distributed to groups throughout the city and the food/pet supplies are going to Albany Park Mutual Aid on Monday.
future salt shed: it can't be any worse than northerly islands situation. getting there and leaving after turnstile a few weeks ago was awful.
Northerly island is one of the few venues I don’t drive to so I have no issue with leaving since I’m walking to the Metra station at Rosevelt
Got an extra ticket for Cusp // Tenci // Pictoria Vark at Lincoln Hall tonight if anyone wants to go for free. Doors are 7 pm, show is 8 pm
I'm sure most of you know Avondale was hit hard on Saturday and teargassed. I decided that we're opening our doors to the public on Wednesday at the adoption center for people to come in, decompress, gather, and just talk. 5:30 to 8, Harmony House for Cats.
This venue started getting much better shows lately. I'll be at the Just Surrender show for sure, I might catch another one of these. I would have gone to Letter Kills if it wasn't the same night as Biffy Clyro.
yah i only went there back back in the day for local shows and random tours when it was still clearwater but ever since the rebrand, i think ive been there one time and that was to see my friends cover band haha
I've been there 4-5 times since they reopened. They used to have some known artists there (Sevendust, Tremonti, Mammoth...) but it changed to mainly cover bands. Looks like they rebranded again in the past couple of years and are starting to get some better names now. It's probably like 40 minutes from where I am but at least I don't have to go to the city and the area is pretty nice on top of it.
yah its a totally chill area, across the bridge i would frequent bandito barney's a lot, especially in the summer since its a massive beer garden essentially. but yah i dont follow their lineups there i just saw the 20 bands of xmas flyer because of friends bands who are playing and i know who books that fest. hes got some fun bands this year for sure! hopefully kids turn out for it.
heading down from Michigan tomorrow for a weekend trip Seeing Grizzly Bear at the Salt Shed on Saturday night. Been to probably 50+ shows in Chicago but have never heard of the venue. How is it?
