Yes. I brought a backpack worth of personal documents to the DMV a few years ago to get it taken care of.

worth it in the end as it does make air travel a bit easier.

 

I went with my wife to do them at the Addison DMV a few weeks ago, took me like 20 minutes (place is tiny).

She got hers after a few days and I got a letter saying there was in issue with scanning my documents so I had to go and do it all over again...

 

Got mine last year since it was almost time to renew my license anyway. Didn’t love having to carry so many important documents with me, but the DMV visit itself was quick and easy

 

So you don’t ever get the license day of? They mail it to you?

 

I didn't know Illinois still did same day driver's licenses, unless you mean the temp paper ones? When I renewed mine in 2015 I got a permanent one at the DMV but when I did it in 2019 and last year it was mailed

 

Yes, they give you a paper slip that acts as a temporary license until you get it, I think they say you should get it in 2-3 weeks.
