I know the bartender and doubt it went exactly the way the victim is saying it did. There are a few other stories out there. Really unfortunate all around.
I haven't been to that bar in a long time, but I don't remember there being one. Either way, there was no video of the incident. Dave has a personal video of the victim and his group antagonizing and instigating earlier in the night. Dave also encouraged them to call the cops, but was arrested instead based on the victim having his group to validate his story as opposed to Dave's and his boss. Dave's overall story is more realistic to how it went down, but I am sure the truth is still in between. The story from the victim is just far fetched imo and doesn't make sense or add up. Dave is suing them, so it's a whole thing.
Moral of the story: be a kind patron and treat workers and anyone the way you would want to be treated. And if you are at a bar or restaurant, be a kind tipper and exercise patience when it's busy. Don't be entitled.
Any recommendations for Chicago? I'm taking a trip next week with my friend. Already seeing a white Sox, Cubs, and a bears preseason game. I'm staying in downtown Chicago from Tuesday to Sunday. Really excited I've heard good things
As far as downtown adjacent stuff is concerned the museums are all world class. Field and Museum of Science and Industry rule, the planetarium is great, MCA and Art Institute are both easy to spend tons of time in, if you’re looking for something different there’s also the International Museum of Surgical Science. obviously there’s shows happening all over town too, if you’re just looking to drop into something Empty Bottle and SubT always have stuff going on
8/20 catch my band at the empty bottle lol JK, downtown is really cool in the summer. It sounds touristy, but honestly the architecture boat tour is super fun.
I might try to see good hangs Friday at cobra lounge but on the wait list cuz it's sold out. Will check out empty bottle and subt. I'd see your band importer but leaving before that. Me and my friend both love karaoke (non private room ones), any spots recommended for that?
You just missed the world’s largest karaoke at the Salt Shed. There’s tons of spots all over, I prefer the ones in Chinatown if you have a big enough group for them.
I was at Alice’s Lounge off Belmont for karaoke last weekend for a friend’s birthday and had a great time.
It's just me and my one friend but i like where you can just sign up and sing in front of Randoms more than private rooms
My friend and Mark from Spitalfield run karaoke at Welcome Back Lounge on Sundays. It usually has a good turnout and is a lot of fun.
My partner scored tickets to catch taping of Colbert tonight. Trouble is, taping STARTS at 10:30PM. Look for me asleep in the crowd on the live cast!
I had tickets to The Daily Show yesterday but I can't warrant losing a whole afternoon just to possibly get in line. Hope you enjoy yourself!
