Any good local summer music festivals besides the Logan Square one you all think is worth hitting up? Thinking of going to FiFi on the southside.
My band (Pelafina) is playing Taste of Randolph on June 14th with Friko and The Beaches. The Do Division Sunday lineup is awesome (Arms Length, Better Love). Wicker Park Fest isn’t announced yet but they usually have a good lineup.
Agreed with all that, on the subject of things happening outdoors, Stretchmetal's Sound Market is back outside during the Logan Square Farmers Market on Sunday, my friend Jason (aka cinchel) is playing: https://www.stretchmetal.org/052624-showdetails
We bought a house in Villa Park a few months ago, we are planning to move in soon, just finishing up some repairs. This morning there was a company that came in to finish one repair and my wife went there to be with them. She called me in panic saying that someone is in the house. We haven't moved there yet and it's been sitting vacant for 4 months now. She saw that someone put in blinds on the window and locked the front and back screen doors (we don't even have a key for these). I managed to break in the front screen door and unlocked the front door. We came in and searched the house. We only found a sleeping bag in the main bedroom along with a broken window. For some reason they also punched some holes in the wall in another bedroom. We don't have any security cameras there. We replaced all the locks (luckily they haven't changed them but just in case). There is a deck in the back and there is a hole there that wasn't there before, I think maybe whoever was there panicked when he saw someone come in jumped from the second floor and his fall broke the deck. We threw out the sleeping bag in the curb (hopefully they come back and see it there) and thankfully we haven't moved yet so there was nothing really to to steal (besides some very basic tools) but the whole thing sucked very very bad. I'm just glad it wasn't someone who brought in furniture and squatted there because if they did then we would have been fucked.
There was just a stabbing inside the City Winery music venue, an employee stabbed another employee who died inside the venue.
Damn! Not a beer guy, but I used to take people we were getting into the Union from Mt Sinai hospital over to that taproom after they got off work to talk with them about organizing. Good memories. Sad it’s gone.
I went there shortly after they opened and they gave you so much free beer on the tour I was wasted lol
Baby’s first Crosstown Classic. One of the vendors I work with was hosting all of their clients at a rooftop on Sheffield. T’was a beautiful night.
I lived in Ravenswood the first few years I was in the city, love that whole greater North Center situation. Also depending on where in Roscoe you are, congrats and/or sorry that you missed the rat hole.
I have family coming in from overseas in a few weeks. Anyone has a recommendation for some good fairs or carnivals around the 4th of July. Already going to the one in Arlington Heights on the 6th (with intent of sneaking away from them to see Hoobastank lol).
Lombard has a good fireworks display on the 4th if that's your thing, but unfortunately it's not much of a fair/carnival. The cruise nights in downtown Lombard on most Saturdays (aside from the holiday weekend) are more that vibe.
That sounds like a good place to close the day, not too far from us (would have been better if we could have moved to our stupid new place in Villa Park already. Hopefully that would happen mid-July). Thanks for the recommendation.
Going to be a hot one this week. Make sure you check on your neighbors and know where the cooling centers are. Cooling Areas
