Remembering to hype one of my own shows in advance here for once. We're playing our album release show at Gman on 2/17 with Mark Rose and Blind Adam and the Federal League. Jeff Schaller and the Long Way Home (Record Release) * Blind Adam and the Federal League * Mark RoseGman Tavern
I liked the congress. I don’t exactly miss it since it’s been like 10 years or whatever since I’ve been and would rather the money go elsewhere.
Saw Coheed/Circa and Primus there. It was a great spot and could provide another option for bands big enough to play The Riv/Aragon-sized venues.
Being that i live a few blocks away, not opposed to having a walkable venue for good acts to come through. I love uptown so i don’t mind going to the riv but it’s not the most convenient by train for me.
I know it won’t happen for a lot of valid reasons but some kind of connecting line to the west side would be so nice. Would love to hop on a train from uptown to shows at sub t or concord.
I'm not optimistic about it, but I really wish the Uptown Theater would reopen. I remember reading that there was a 75 million dollar plan put in place in 2018, but here we are almost half a decade later. Unreal that it's just been sitting there for 40+ years.
The franchise Chicago’s Pizza is mad underrated. I got their deep dish on Friday and it blew my mind. You never see their name popping up in the “best pizza in Chicago” conversation and that needs to change.
I have fond memories of that place because they delivered like 24 hours when I was in lake view and so my late night drunk food needs were always met by them.
This is a tired subject but every time I commit to taking less Ubers I am reminded of just how unreliable CTA has become. It’s impossible to track when busses or trains are going show up. So frustrating.
Art of Pizza is my #1 spot. Whenever people come to visit and want stuffed pizza, I throw it out there.
While we're on the subject of pizza, y'all had pickle pizza? Bob's makes one and it's got mortadella (optional if you want it vegetarian), pickles (duh), dill, and garlic cream instead of marinara. They claim to be the original but I have no way of verifying it, either way it's my favorite thing now.
I’ve had pickle pizza, but not from Bob’s. I had it at the Carbon Arc. which is part of the Davis Theatre. These Bob’s pies look AMAZING.
