Also, my guess is: Tool or Metallica / System Of A Down / Disturbed / (insert some big hard rock act I hate but the kids like here) / The Prodigy / Deftones / Ghost
Do you know if there's going to be overlap in terms of acts? I made this assumption before, but I'd imagine with both festivals being run by Wimmer there's going to be some overlap (a la Riot Fest Chicago/Denver/Toronto a few years back). I'd imagine they book some acts for multiple fests at once.
There's usually a ton of overlap with Wimmer fests, but last year they made an effort to have the headliners be different.
Agreed, but what I understand from friends who’ve gone to OA, there is a transportation ticket package you can buy that will take you to and from the city. I plan to do that. At the very least, the bar Reggie’s in the South Loop will probably have their bus in action.
I would be shocked if the lineups aren't at least 50% the same. Also, if Disturbed is out, maybe Open Air finally books Avenged Sevenfold? I hate them but it's not as if they aren't perfect for an Open Air lineup. I guess the main question is: will Chicago Open Air Presents: A Day In the Park be re-branded as more rock similar to Sonic Temple (Rock On The Range) and Epicenter (Carolina Rebellion).
I bet it'll be a couple weeks. For now, my prediction: Tool * System Of A Down * Avenged Sevenfold The Prodigy * Deftones * Ghost * Shinedown * Chevelle Bring Me The Horizon * Halesorm * Lamb Of God The Cult * Meshuggah * Evanescence * Papa Roach Gojira * Killswitch Engage * Skillet * In This Moment Tom Morello * Black Label Society * Circa Survive Fever 333 * Beartooth * Parkway Drive * Avatar Tremonti * Zeal & Ardor * The Black Dahlia Murder
Of course they announce the dates the same day I started making some plans with some out of town friends to finally go to Three Floyd's Dark Lord Day, which is that weekend. FUUUUUUUUUUUU
It looks like it's still going to be called Chicago Open Air too. Unless they just haven't announced the name change yet.
Announcement in less than 24 hours. After today's tour announcment it's safe to say that Breaking Benjamin, Skillet and Underoath will probably be there. I am guessing that Shinedown, Papa Roach and Asking Alexandria will make an appearance, judging by their upcoming tour.
Lineup announcement in 34 minutes! Really hoping to see: TOOL, SOAD, Slipknot, Ghost, Killswitch Engage, Circa Survive.

Patton Oswalt's in Detroit the same weekend so I can't go anymore, but I'd totally go Saturday if I could.
