New album was apparently mixed by Beau from Saosin. Self produced, and coming out through Alchemy Recordings, the same label as Serj Tankian and Puscifer.
It's funny how so many bands from the early 2000's went commercial and got big on radio and Chevelle are just getting weirder and weirder and yet they are still getting grouped with bands like Shinedown and Papa Roach as "butt rock".
How is this song weirder/experimental for them? It sounds like a pretty straightforward Chevelle song, and I like it.
On first listen Pete's vocal runs and patterns sound weirder but maybe I need to relisten to NIRATIAS. Edit: Also I don't recall the guitars sounding like that on previous songs. Almost sounds synth-y
Disagree again, I was listening to them when I said they had some bad songs the other day and right on cue 'Twinge' started playing, a known stinker
I have now listened to and very much enjoyed Hats Off to the Bull and La Gargola. I think I was just vehemently opposed to this kind of music for a good ten year span and am just now coming to terms with dismissing their output for a decade.
I remember thinking "Fell Into Your Shoes" was one of their worst songs, it's grown on me over the years. Sci-Fi Crimes has some low points for sure.
Highland's Apparition - Roswell's Spell - A New Momentum gotta be the worst 3 song stretch in their discography! Didn't include Interlewd since it's instrumental but the placement doesn't help!!
Sci fi crimes is tops for me by far. Hats off was good, I need to revisit everything after that but nothing from those immediately clicked for me. This song is damn good though.
Might need to do a discography run. Off the cuff rankings, I'd say 1. Vena Sera 2. Wonder What's Next 3. This Type of Thinking 4. La Gargola 5. Sci-Fi Crimes 6. Hats Off 7. Niratias 8. Point #1 WWN/TTOT/VS is such a perfect stretch of albums
