this didn't quite give me the same holy-shit feeling as when I first heard "Why" or "grimace" but it's still pretty great. maybe a little bit too similar in God's Country at times but still. "Tape" and "Masc" go crazy
Yeah just finished the first listen and honestly not too stoked on it. Songwriting just not very memorable vocally or melodically. Maybe it'll take a while to digest and get better with time..
I'm on my second go around and this is hitting for me. Shame and Tape both are instant stand-outs from the non singles.
The consistency in quality between God's Country and this record is fucking crazy. "Frownland" is one of the best songs I've heard all year
Finally getting to this and it's great so far, and I'm only on "Frownland". That bass groove is fucking nasty but in the best way. I'm actually amazed at how distinct this sounds from God's Country while still working within the same relatively-narrow stylistic band.
Definitely, and I love the way some of the songs just groove (that's one thing the best of nu-metal could do) which makes them feel more melodic even when they're still quite abrasive.
