I seem to be in the minority here, but I am not particularly feeling this. I absolutely love Guppy & am bummed with how, musically, this seems like quite a regression. All for Charly Bliss going a poppier route, but IDK.. a lot of the arrangements here are a bit too generic for my liking. Wish “Heaven” would’ve been more indicative of what was happening here.
Guppy was very good, but I really don’t find it all that mindblowing or innovative for this to be a “step down” or whatever I see people saying on reddit. This is a much more interesting album. I think the melodies are more complex, the lyrics are better and overall it’s a more cohesive album.
Going to be actual years until I can properly rank this against Guppy, one of my favorite albums ever. For now, I'm just content to have new music and a band that enjoys making it!
“Heaven” sounded to me like a “Guppy” b-side. Like when my friend and I heard it, we said “Yep, it’s a Charly Bliss” song. I’m glad they switched it up, but I can see why some would be disappointed.
Why is everyone so old why does everyone like thisssss Like, I don’t want to go to 9pm shows but also not 5pm shows. All shows should be at 7 with two openers max. That’s the world I’d like to live in someday...
The venue in my neighborhood has a strict 10pm curfew. God I love seeing shows there, I'm literally in bed by 10:20.
The closest venue to me that gets good shows is 45 minutes away, and Chicago/Detroit (the two A markets close to me) are both 2.5 hours, so earlier shows are definitely a little better.
I mean, if the show’s done by 8 or so, you could eat dinner AFTER the show. I’d get a snack before or something so I’m not starving, but that seems so nice.
