I have a feeling this is gonna sit at the top of my Best of 2019 list.
i just bought the vinyl, this rules
I’m late to post but this album is amazing, obviously.
This clicked for me today, really digging it.
I seem to be in the minority here, but I am not particularly feeling this. I absolutely love Guppy & am bummed with how, musically, this seems like quite a regression. All for Charly Bliss going a poppier route, but IDK.. a lot of the arrangements here are a bit too generic for my liking. Wish “Heaven” would’ve been more indicative of what was happening here.
Guppy was very good, but I really don’t find it all that mindblowing or innovative for this to be a “step down” or whatever I see people saying on reddit. This is a much more interesting album. I think the melodies are more complex, the lyrics are better and overall it’s a more cohesive album.
yeah Guppy rules but this dunks on it, no question
Going to be actual years until I can properly rank this against Guppy, one of my favorite albums ever.
For now, I'm just content to have new music and a band that enjoys making it!
Oh wow I didn’t even realize Heaven isn’t on this
“Heaven” sounded to me like a “Guppy” b-side. Like when my friend and I heard it, we said “Yep, it’s a Charly Bliss” song. I’m glad they switched it up, but I can see why some would be disappointed.
I like Heaven, but I'm incredibly glad this album doesn't sound anything like it
I didn't think Heaven sounded much like Guppy at all haha
Also every song on this is better than Heaven
And most of the songs on Guppy do too
this is seriously so good
Man, I want to go see them, but it's a fucking 5pm show at the worst venue in Portland. Hmm....
5pm show sounds AMAZING
Meaning they go on around 6/630? That’d actually be pretty cool
Why is everyone so old why does everyone like thisssss
Like, I don’t want to go to 9pm shows but also not 5pm shows. All shows should be at 7 with two openers max. That’s the world I’d like to live in someday...
But weekend afternoon shows are great too!
I wouldn’t stand for that tyranny
Would die for a 5 p.m. show tbh
Anytime a show ends before 11, I feel like I've been truly blessed
The venue in my neighborhood has a strict 10pm curfew. God I love seeing shows there, I'm literally in bed by 10:20.
The closest venue to me that gets good shows is 45 minutes away, and Chicago/Detroit (the two A markets close to me) are both 2.5 hours, so earlier shows are definitely a little better.
how do you eat dinner before a 5 PM show
