Ugh, she's just the best... Hopefully the album is a thing. I just hope she's not straying too far from the PC Music stuff she's had going.
Definitely a radio ready single, troye doesn't hurt that either. I'm ready for the music video. This has hit potential yall
What I heard is originally produced by Max and then the actual released version is reproduced by someone else. I don't know enough about the business to know if that's just a money saving measure or what.
According to genius: "Originally produced by Max Martin, the final version of the song was re-produced for release by Swedish writer and producer Oscar Holter." Charli XCX & Troye Sivan – 1999 Lyrics | Genius Lyrics
I figured this one would be more up your alley. I know she basically has to move away from some of the pc music stuff if she wants label push, and I'm fine with it. It's obviously my favorite version of Charli by a long shot, but we did get two classic mixtapes and an ep with that sound, and if 1999 is indicitive of the new sound she's going towards, I'm cool with it. I just hope we get at least a couple AG/Sophie cuts on XCX3, and wishful thinking but maybe another pc mixtape next year after the album. I just want queen to succeed.
The good thing is that AG is her creative director so hopefully going forward, that still stands for something...
I’m okay with it. I obviously LOVE what she did with that sound but I want Charli to change up again like she used to
I honestly get the feeling that she's going to continue to have two parallel Charli's - the weird one and the more straightforward one. You see it with mixtapes vs "album" tracks. You see it VERY obviously with the Taylor tour vs the POP2 tour. Did you see the different set lists? She is doing something super unique in essentially having two different careers for two different groups of people. We're just unique that we fall into both categories (for the most part)
I sorta agree with this but if pop star Charli starts to blow up, that's definitely the version of her that's going to take priority. And again, I'm fine with that. Just hope we're blessed with more PC bangers sometime in the future which I think we will.
Yeah I agree. I also think she's at a very different place than she was after the Boom Clap success. Even if we get another hit as big as Boom Clap, I don't think the resulting reaction is going to be identical
