She then announced it wouldn't be ready for release date, but for a little later. Apparently it has 5 new songs and A. G. Cook has worked on some of those.
I was 50/50 on the singles. “New Shapes”, “Every Rule” and “Used to Know Me” I loved. “Good Ones”, “Beg for You” and “Baby” didn’t work for me at all. “Crash” and “Lightning” are excellent.
I’m liking this a lot more than I anticipated based on the singles. Constant Repeat and Move Me are my favorites so far. Still don’t love Baby.
I agree with Charli's own claim that this is her most cohesive album to date, and I really like it, but it doesn't have the highs for me that Pop2, Charli, or HIFN reached (I'll even throw N1A in there, because "Lipgloss" gets me more hyped than maybe any other song on earth). That said, I think it's all around more consistent than HIFN or N1A, and maybe even Charlie depending on where you fall when it comes to "Shake It." Interesting to see "Constant Repeat" popping up as an early favorite—it's one of the tracks that didn't really do much for me through my first few listens of the album. Really dig the weird vocal layer on "Crash." "New Shapes" remains pretty much perfect, and I'll ride for "Good Ones." "Beg For You" is still a bit of a letdown for me, especially considering she got Rina to collab with on that track. The verses on "Move Me" weren't doing it for me, but holy shit that chorus is sooooo good. "Baby" has really grown on me and I think shines even brighter in the context of the full album. "Lightning" is great. "Every Rule" is fine, but it ain't no "Official" or "I Don't Wanna Know." The final three songs are probably my favorite run of songs on the entire album. Absolute fire, and I love the outro to "Twice."
this is my first Charli album and I'm obsessed— which album next? wasn't sure about the singles but in the context of the album.. *chef's kiss*
If you really want to dive in you could just start at True Romance and go all the way through, would be fun to see the progression. If you just want another album to check out I'd say maybe Charli or Pop 2.
Love to see it. Pop 2 and How I’m Feeling Now are my favorites. This might be a close third but Charli and Number 1 Angel both have some amazing tracks.
I read somewhere on twitter at 4am that Charli's team wanted to give Move Me to Halsey and Charli was like lol no thats for me. Found it:
