At the age of 14, Charli was granted a loan by her parents to record her first album, which became 14. In early 2008, she began posting songs from the album, as well as numerous other demos, on her official MySpace. This caught the attention of "this guy Chaz", who was running numerous illegal warehouse raves in London, which became her first true gigs. She also created her own record label, Orgy Music, with Martin Hayter, and released two singles in late 2008, !Franchesckaar!, and double A-side Emelline / Art Bitch. Whilst "touring", she was signed to Atlantic Records. Promotional copies were issued of 14, but it was never officially released commercially. Charli has frequently expressed her distaste for her music of the time, going as far to call it "gimmicky dance tracks" and "fucking terrible MySpace music".
I've only listened to Emiline / Art Bitch which was released as a single also, but never the whole thing
Oh I've fucking listened to it a bunch haha. Lucy is a catchy af song. I used to nanny a girl named Lucy and get it stuck in my head and fight the urge to sing "no one wants you here" out loud.

Doc was pretty good but also mostly reminded me of the worst couple months of my life so that made it kinda tough. Wont be rewatching.
I love Charli and the first 2 singles are great but “Beg For You” is terrible. Maybe the worst thing she’s ever done. The laziest kind of interpolation. Hate it. it’s like when Sean Kingston interpolated “Dyer Maker”. Woof.
I think Alone Together mostly succeeded in what it was aiming to do, but that wasn't quite what I personally was hoping to see. I would have enjoyed much more of the actual album making process.
The new documentary is so good. I didn’t start listening to her until after how im feeling now came out, so it’s cool to see the process involved in making the album. The personal stuff in it was like Inside.
I'd never heard the September song until today, but I gotta say..... I think the Charli one is far superior, not really being pulled in by the original
Cry For You holds a place in my heart ha. It was such a massive hit at the gay clubs the summer I came out.
