Sucker is basically unlistenable for since Vroom Vroom and everything after. Like, I really can’t listen to it. The opener especially conjures up such a negative reaction in me. I don’t think I had such a strong negative reaction to it at the time but I never got into it. True Romance was tight though but I also haven’t heard it in years.
I don't really hate her old stuff but I'd never want to listen to it. It's fine for what it was, clearly some well written hooks, just didn't really connect with me in any way.
I will say that I like “PC Music” Charli more than Sucker... and True Romance... but I never found the first two albums to be weak at all, outside of maybe a small handful of songs. The Vroom Vroom EP really upped the ante for me as a fan though.
Sucker was a blast but I get sad when I think about it cus I saw her once on the tour with Bleachers and she was sick and she started crying cus she thought she wasn't doing good enough and my heart broke
I have to disagree. I hated that song so much it took me far too long to listen to Charli's newer material because of my disgust towards it. But music is subjective so to each their own.
I’m really excited to see her again at Coachella but I’m kinda worried it’s going to be her greatest hits setlist (fancy, I love it, boom clap) instead of a Charli filled set
She didn’t do any of those at Pitchfork and that was before Charli came out. I know it’s a different kind of fest, but knowing that plus her seeming kind of over it with her comments on the Taylor tour, I’m not too worried. I think it’ll be mostly Charli focused
If I thought sucker was decent but haven’t listened to anything since where is the best starting point?
I'd say either Charli or Pop 2, both are excellent. Charli is maybe slightly more accessible but not to the point where it makes a huge difference.
"Lucky" and "Track 10" are that shit I can imagine blasting for another 1000 years every time I'm in an emo mood. timeless songs
