idk a lot of ppl here and elsewhere have no use for pre-vroom vroom charli and i think that's a shame
i enjoy pre-vroom vroom charli, but its hard for me to deny the fact that she really developed as a more fully realized artist with that EP
I’ve never liked Sucker, but True Romance is solid. I liked it a lot at the time, but I don’t have much interest in it anymore, both in terms of her body of work and my personal taste. Vroom Vroom was such a revelation after not liking Sucker. I had been listening to SOPHIE and the PC crew for a bit at that point so hearing her pulled into that realm was honestly incredible. I’m so happy with what she’s turned that career shift into.
I got into her with Pop 2 which blew. my. fucking. mind. (and my girlfriend's, too, which I honestly didn't expect and was super exciting) and I worked my way backwards. Loved N1A, dug most of Vroom Vroom, and didn't really like much of her work before that.
true romance is an inventive and textural pop record it is just not hitting you over the head with it anyway i like this record very much, surprised/relieved that "1999" and "blame it on your love" are the worst tracks on it
It’s weird for me, I’ve been following her since pre-true romance, and checked out each release after that. I didn't really become a true fan until N1A, and Pop 2 made me fall in love. they're just more my speed
i was a huge fan from the moment i heard "stay away." "take my hand" is probably my favorite charli song still, it sounds like a b-side from in the zone that's been chewed up and spit out
True Romance and Sucker are both... fine but if she’s released 50 songs in a style I vastly prefer I don’t see many scenarios in whichever I’d ever go back to them, and I doubt she disagrees
True Romance is amazing and her newer work has only enhanced my love for it. Of course it's my least listened to project by her outside of Sucker, but it's still great to back and see where she's come from. Black Roses >>>
