i love how the solo songs are doing something pretty entirely different than the collab songs. it all works so well together. i can't believe this exists lol.
This sounds interesting... I hope this feels like the “third mixtape” as much as it does her third major album.
It bridges the gap for sure. There are moments that have more mainstream appeal (1999, BIOYL, White Mercedes) but for anyone who thought she'd abandon the PC weirdness - joke's on them. The solo songs are slower and more personal lyrically. She really put it all out there on this one. Silver Cross is gonna go offffff live.
if this is better than all her previous albums / tapes with the exception of Pop 2 I will consider myself incredibly lucky - & I feel based on the singles this could be the case very excited & high expectations tbh! I know Charli can deliver!
Yeah, it’s a great mix of her sounds, and even the ones with mainstream appeal still sound very much like modern era Charli.
I think Pop 2 was easily the best thing she's done before this. This is definitely more on that level. It's ace. I wouldn't have believed I'd be so into Charli XCX this time two years ago.
If you told me that in 2019 I’d be “stanning a pop star” around this time 5 years ago, I would probably look at you funny like “......wtf are you even saying?” Charli makes it so fun though, she’s just freaking cool and fun to watch... one of my favorite people in music now.
I feel it! I haven’t listened since 2 lol. But I’m about to show it to girlfriend for the first time, so that’s something special.
The post-work sleep deprivation is killing me but this album is helping me feel like I'm in the future. This is incredible so far. I'm on Thoughts and I'm so pleased to hear the True Romance (Lock You Up) vibes on this one.
1999 does sound a little weird. I think the Easyfun remix might be a better fit. Blame It On Your Love on the other hand sounds so good in this context, and I'm happy that she kept it.
I can't believe Atlantic approved this release on the back of 1999's success when pretty much everything else is PC-Charli at her weirdest
