Yeah on reddit in particular I've noticed the hate brigading of Chappelle. It seems to lead back to her not endorsing Harris last year. She's treated as a child who knows nothing about the real world as though she didn't make it clear her stance on not endorsing genocide.

 

People simply cannot be normal about her

 

It was bound to happen, she got so popular so quick that the inevitable backlash was bound to come just as quick

 

I cannot imagine being so insecure that you get upset by Chappell Roan's comment on parents

It’s just ridiculous to see people acting like she needs to be some beacon of perfect politics on matters in this country, including some that she probably has no experience with only having been at this level of fame for a short time.

It’s already inherently political to just exist as a queer person, especially in her case as someone in the public eye. She’s been pretty clear that she knows she has a privilege being a white cis woman, and I think she has done a good job using her platform to support trans and POC members of her community and that should be the important thing. In addition to her being vocally supportive of Palestinians and condemning the genocide, and trying to make a stance about how people in her industry are treated by these companies, media, etc.

 

She's also just a normal fucking person. I guarantee the people complaining about her don't know shit about anything. She doesn't have to study politics, just like those dumbasses don't. It's not her job to inform you or bring up every thing wrong going on because you need a list of things you agree on checked off.

It all comes down to these people not understanding that famous people are still just people. I'm older than she is and I couldn't tell you the ins and outs of every policy. Parasocial relationships and such are a mental health crisis.

 

and even if she shares some of her views/critiques on politics, celebrity, and the like, these people stupidly assume that she must hold an opinion on the opposite end of the spectrum if it doesn't align with their expectations. won't endorse Kamala? maybe she's secretly a Republican. thinks it's okay to perform in red states? she must be in favor of trans-exclusionary legislation. calls out obsessive fans and exploitative practices by the music industry? she's ungrateful and must hate being a musician.

if you need a black and white answer to determine someone's views on something instead of inferring it from everything else they've said, maybe you don't need to be a part of that conversation.

 

It's also just misogyny, same with what's happening with Rachel Zegler

To be fair a lot of the people who are criticizing Chappell for her politics are also zionists
