This will probably do incredibly well with country being so hot right now. I just can’t fuck with this genre, hopefully it’s a fun departure and not a sign of where the next full length is going thematically.

 

She's already confirmed it's not. Just something she wanted to do.

Country is not a genre I really enjoy outside the classics but I am very familiar with 90s country due to my upbring. This song is good for that crowd. It's fun, playful, and has ear-worm lyrics. This can easily be a hit if it is picked up by country radio.

I hope Chappell has huge success with this song but my selfish side wants her to immediately go back to pop.

 

Song is fun and will do numbers obviously but I have zero interest in this sound so I won't be coming back to this. Kind of a bummer, I wish I had just listened to any clips or the live performance beforehand so I could have set expectations accordingly.

I’d be very surprised if “Good Luck, Babe” ended up on the next album.

I don’t think this has the things I like about Chappell but I can imagine it translating better live and being fun.

 

This is straight out of the late 90s early 00s country diva playbook. In other words, the music of my childhood. Couldn't have asked for a better outcome in a Chappell goes country scenario.

 

I loathe country music, but love this song. This song is still very Chappell and it's just a blast.

fully admit I listen to almost zero modern country artists (zach bryan I guess and that's like 8 songs I like total)

but you put on Heads Carolina, Tails California? You put on some Gary Allen? i'm singing along

 

I enjoyed it on SNL, I more meant with a full crowd translating live rather than just a tv performance.

 

I like plenty of country/country-adjacent stuff, this sound in particular just ain't my thing. Song is good, but not for me.

 

Fingers crossed somewhere in Florida so I can make up for not getting to see her at All Things Go.
