I know I'm part of it too. I think maybe I just do it out of frustration and to some what vent? Like it's just frustrating to see people who are supposedly part of her comminuty (and my community at that) that are just trying to make up reasons to discredit her. And for what? She hasn't done anything but be vocal about her being part of the LGBTQ community and supporting others that don't benefit from being a white cis female like she does.

 

But I'm also aware that the majority of people are positive and supportive so I just need to do a better job of tuning it out.

 

The ONLY thing I will say about the "only a woman knows how to treat a woman right" line is it's very blunt. Quite possibly that was the intention (and it seems to be resonating with its target audience), but I was expecting some kind of wordplay, or rhyme, just something a bit more than that.

 

That sharp breath in right before the final chorus is iconic.

 

I thought the line was cheeky and fun and it made me laugh. As a cis straight woman in a relationship with a man lol

I feel like people on the internet always struggle to understand that not everything is about them or applies to them and that is okay. Chappell is not literally talking about you (general you) and so it's okay to just... Move on

 

I think it was intentional as well. It definitely sounds they made it akin to Femininomenon with some of the lyrics and the spoken lines, SGUMG too.

 

Just watched/listened to The Giver, this song is great

Grammy noms are out tomorrow. People have been pretty confident she’ll get noms in all four major awards but it’ll be interesting to see how it goes.

 

Officially nominated for Album of the Year, and GLB got Song and Record of the Year, and Solo Pop Performance! Also Dan got nominated as producer of the year!

 

Dan is taking that since Jack was not nominated.

 

Oh and she got nominated for Best New Artist too

 

Jack will still find a way to get it

Her new management? Didn’t she fire her manager in like September/October? Could have swore I then saw posts in here that apparently managers were crawling all over ACL trying to get a meeting with her lol
