I also think this! An artist covering another artist's song is usually just a sign of big enthusiasm for the song, so I find gatekeeping of who is allowed to cover certain songs very weird.

 

it’s really not that expensive…I can fly from Toronto (hr drive from Buffalo) to London cheaper than I can Buffalo to Vegas. Tickets are generally cheaper in the UK and lodging isn’t bad either.

as a gay man, i honestly don't care that much who covers what (unless you feel compelled to gender swap pronouns in a song as to avoid being perceived as gay - that's dumb). i just find blink covering it a bit cringey.
