I rather enjoy that valid criticism is apparently whatever if it doesn’t affect you as a fan. Like the very reason I came in here was because people were just brushing that off as no big deal and that didn’t sit right with me. I understand how that comes off and I’m gonna stop but y’all can’t act like doing that is fine when someone builds an entire stage persona about not wanting fame and success.

 

I just..why the fuck would I get mad about a concert I wasn't going to haha? It's shitty, it sucks for the people who paid to go. Beyond that I am absolutely not going to make any grand statements about the artists over something that doesn't concern me. I get why she did it, I get why people going to the concert are upset.

Asking people to not be creepy doesn’t mean she’s going to pass up opportunities to further her career. Yeah it’s a shitty thing to do, but that’s her job and she has a team telling her what they think is best. Nobody expected her to have such a meteoric rise, so shit is gonna happen. Acting like this is a sign of her true character is wild.

Where were the complaints about her trading stages at festivals when fans went to see those other artists?

 

The main things I've seen her say about not wanting certain things in her career is that she is not concerned about charting and that she would walk away if it got that point between crazy fans stalking and her bipolar disorder/mental health. Which is why she is setting boundaries now with her blowing up over the past three months.

Oh so Chappell gets a ton of shit when she cancels gigs for the VMAs but two robots get off scot-free? Just another music industry double standard

 

I don’t know what thread this was meant for and I don’t want to know. It was the perfect non-sequitur to cut the tension. I laughed so hard.

 

I don't think Chappell is a bad person for playing the VMAs, and I think it's really weird to turn her decision to cancel a couple shows into a big moral debate.

There is not a lot of money for creatives in this industry, and Chappell has tons of people counting on her to make smart decisions so she can support herself and her team. The VMA's is a huge networking event that opens up all sorts of opportunities and peforming is a huge milestone moment in a young artist's career.

I know it super duper sucks to lose your opportunity to see chappell, and if you sank money into a trip for that purpose it probably feels really fucking bad. It's really unfortunate! But if you want Chappell to be around for a long time, you should respect her choices instead of assuming she's being selfish.
