Chappell sold 12000 records instantly today, I think she might have it…. Are 12000 people rebuying the same record they have bought 20 times already?

Are the records pre-order or ready to ship? Sales only count when then vinyl ships

They were already pressed, he confirmed that on twitter, so I assume they counted?

They count when they ship and it was for a uk record store with worldwide shipping so I don’t think all 12,0000 would count, especially for this weeks charts

Yeah, I feel like that would only count for the UK.

This is technically true, but all those men have had number one albums in the past, so them getting “blocked” feels less significant. And Eminem did actually beat her. Whereas some of the female artists she’s been most aggressive about edging out (Charli, Gracie, now Chappell) have never topped that chart and would benefit so much more from having a number 1 album than she will from holding the slot for whatever number week this is.

Idk, I think just about everything about the TTPD rollout has been gross, and it’s really affected my feelings on the album itself. That said, Taylor and her label hit upon something that clearly works with her fanbase, and who am I to be mad if they want to pay extra for live versions of two songs that were shitty to begin with?

What makes me the most upset is that the anthology songs still haven’t got a vinyl release.

Genuine question: if she releases just the anthology on vinyl, can she count it toward the TTPD numbers?

I knew there was a reason I wasn't a big fan of Taylor, she reminds me of people I hated in high school lmao

I feel like it would be its own thing similar to how the folklore: long point studio vinyl was its own thing compared to the digital release, which included the original studio album tracks and counted towards folklore’s sales as a deluxe album.

That digital release led to folklore jumping from 29 to 6, while the standalone vinyl debuted at 3 on the charts while folklore was 12.

Yeah, I figure that would be the case as well. I only asked because, technically, TTPD has been billed as a double album and the Anthology tracks are a part of said album. Which would mean the sales of a vinyl release of those songs would have as much claim to being counted toward TTPD's total number as the original TTPD vinyl. Both are just half the album!

I’d be more forgiving toward TTPD’s marketing strategy if the album wasn’t really bad

Can we have a dedicated thread to Taylor Swift reissues so I don’t have to see the same shit everywhere on this site

I think I’d hate the “release an album and then dump out a bunch of bonus tracks on the same day” strategy even if I liked the album more.

Totally valid question! I’m ultimately making an educated guess and it’s totally possible Billboard changed its regularly changing rules for when, what, and where something counts as a sale over the past year.

On a related note, that surprise “double” album release will always irk me.

People are going to be pissed if they bought single day tickets, but I wonder if they'll let people exchange them. I was nosy and looked and they have single days available currently for Friday and Sunday but there is a waitlist for Saturday.....I'd imagine there is a good chance they were all gone because of Chappell lol

Didn't even think about the single day pass thing. We have the 3-day pass, but I'd be pretty pissed if I couldn't exchange it since she is the main reason we're even going lol
