Maybe, I think I’m still damaged from the late pre-streaming era rap when albums with actual hit singles would sell like 5000 copies
I think we all expected this to be #1 and sell a bit more, but it's definitely still a success. Coloring book peaked at number 8 and it's first week sales was something like 40k.
To be fair Coloring Book's numbers were strictly streaming since he never sold it, this is both It's still a growth though
I might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure Coloring Book was for sale on iTunes? It wasn’t on CD for sure but neither is The Big Day. Anyway, there’s no way the differences between CB and TBD don’t include growth in streaming too.
It was an Apple exclusive first and then moved to Spotify/Soundcloud etc. two weeks (I think) later. It wasn't available to purchase on iTunes until he made 10 Day and Acid Rap available too like a couple weeks ago Remember how big of a deal he used to make about his music being free?
Not really that similar stylistically but I haven't really listened to this much since the new Tobi Lou album dropped, feel like some people who were let down by this might enjoy
Christians, much like country fans and Germans, buy CDs and downloads. So yeah, it's apples and oranges. This album had a great first week. Also I just checked out NF's single and it is painful.
I managed to snag CB off of Dat Piff in the first few hours before it got taken down. I was probably one of the few who actually did get it for free.
Im so sick of people online (not here) exaggerating their hate for this album. If someone doesn't like it that's fine, but people are harassing the man at this point, and it's eerily reminding me of how people would treat Chester Bennington, and Mac Miller only to switch up real quickly when things got dark. Artists don't owe anyone shit. On another note this album isn't even half as bad as people on other forums are making it out to be.
Man, this is so fucked up. I can’t remember last time consensus shifted on an artist this fast. Can’t even imagine how he feels.
This is such a destructive thing to do, and it spreads the lie that drugs are needed for creativity. So harmful, absolutely fucked.
I see so many comments that this album is just “Tik tok bait for kids to hit the woe to” and like ..... please show me a kid hitting a woe to en vogue plz. It’s like people heard hot water and apply thoughts of that song too the entire album
Yeah, kind of why I’m curious about ticket sales . I have no idea how to gauge what the actual consensus of the album is / popularity of him is .
