Yeah this is bloated and would be better served if it was like ten songs shorter. Weird how his mixtapes felt like albums and this album feels like a mixtape. Also yeah he's corny but he's been corny for years, that's part of the appeal. I'm gonna feel real bad if he gets a divorce, but a lot of this stuff reminds me of my friends who got married too early and put too much of their identity into getting married.

Weird how much he references Tesla and digs at vegans.

This is something my grandma would say but, I would really love the title track if it wasn’t for that stupid screaming part.

On second listen the songs were already individualizing themselves, which I was concerned about on initial listen.

This and Brockhampton are gonna make for some great late Summer nights

Some tracks and moments are popping up but it is still definitely kind of a chore to get through.

Title track is really good though, and so are the first two. I still cant tell if I love or hate hot shower

Such a strange choice to close this album with a Nicki verse. Doesn't feel cohesive at all, part of why it feels so bloated.

This is much much better than I was anticipating, but my expectations were so low and this still isn't great. I've very much soured on Chance for a bunch of his fucked behavior, and I'm glad he hasn't completely fallen off but I guess I'm just not blown away like I was even a few years ago.

That’s bugged me since my first listen. It’s your “debut album” and someone else gets the last word? Odd.

Its a move that can work, like Noname on Smino's album. Where it feels powerful and monumental, and also like in the rhythm of the overall work. It can mean a lot for the artist to step away and have someone else condense a message.

But Nicki here feels way less like an artistic choice and more like a marketing one. Its not an especially good verse or song in general. And after like 20 tracks it all kind of just trails off without a triumphant ending.

I’ll start off by saying I actually like more or less every song on the album. However, it feels like two different albums kind of morphed together into one long album; there are quite a lot of meaningful songs about his marriage/current position in life that are really good imo, but then these are broken up by random “bangers” that really don’t fit the theme and feel like filler to make the album longer, even though I actually like most of these songs. If he maybe released these songs as a separate mixtape or something it would have made the album a lot tighter and more cohesive.

The features are definitely not as impressive as past Chance projects but there are still some cool ones. Taylor Bennett has a really good verse, as well as Smino, and I love Ben Gibbard’s hook. Nicki however is entirely unnecessary on the last track, I thought that was such a good personal closer with Chance describing how he and his wife met but then she comes in with the last verse on the whole album... there’s no reason the last voice we heard on the album should have been Nicki Minaj. Chance also tones down the Jesus stuff on here for the most part which is good for me lol

I honestly like this though, and I could see it growing on me even more, I just think the two sounds on here should have maybe been two projects, one concept album about his marriage and current outlook on life and one banger mixtape. I’d probably put this about equal with Coloring Book behind Acid Rap and 10 Day

I thought the same thing! I think the idea of that could work if we was actually saying something worthwhile, but just screaming a bunch of expletives for shock value doesn’t do much for me.

Now if only these damn kids would get off my lawn...

But that Nicki verse is her best in years, guys. Nearly every song has a feature so I don’t think it’s that odd. The last song on CB ends with the features harmonizing.

There’s a very good 10-12 song record in here but I don’t know if I will ever listen to this in full again.

Yea as with nearly every album of this length it would be better served to be cut down to 10-13 tracks. There’s just a lot here that some of the sounds blend together and aren’t given the opportunity to shine like the would on a more condensed effort. It’s good. Not great.

Ending with a Nicki verse doesn't seem out of place at all and her verse is top notch from her, I won't be complaining about it

I don’t think there is a single track here that pops like the best stuff on CB tbh.

My woke take is the Nicki verse feels like it should be in the middle of the song, not at the end. But also, she shouldnt be on there at all because she’s an apologist for abusers and alleged rapists and pedophiles.

Was talking shit with some friends of mine in Chicago, all think this album is trash. I don't think I'm coming back to this, it just doesn't feel like it has a reason to exist, it lacks purpose, and it just isn't interesting in any other way so lacking purpose is a huge knock.

I simply don’t understand takes like this. Sure its understandable you may not like the music itself but how can someone jump to conclusions like this?
