That’s how I feel too. Coloring book has his best song in Summer Friends and the SoX guys in particular really stepped it up for this, but as far as chance I think I like the cartoonish trip vibe of acid rap. I listen to acid rap front to back pretty often but not coloring book. I still have a lot of CB songs on playlists but can’t get through the whole thing in order
I generally agree that I prefer irreverent Chance, some of Coloring Book comes off as overly earnest and that doesn't do as much for me.
Please just give me another song that makes me feel the way Good Ass Intro and Cocoa Butter Kisses do
Acid Rap is the only Chance project I’ve truly enjoyed. Listened to the one before and Colouring Book and neither have anywhere near the same impact or interest.
I find it fascinating how quiet both Chance and Brockhampton have been the past few weeks. Is this like a new release strategy?
Think it’ll come late this month. When July first hit he was tweeting “guess what month it finally is?!?!” And stuff like that
Haha well this was the tweet I was referring to, and he retweeted people that related it back to his album dropping
I would hope he puts it out this month. Otherwise, putting your album up for preorder without a release date, but under the promise of “July”, is kinda sketch and honestly a bit disrespectful
Isn’t that what pretty much every artist does with their pre-orders - put it up, give it a nebulous, non-committal timeframe so they can push it back (looking at you, Frank Ocean)?
It’s definitely becoming more and more common in the mainstream/pop music. Personally just don’t think you should be taking people’s money without some concrete date given in return. The case would be different if they weren’t charging until delivery/shipment, but I don’t think that’s what’s happening.
Pre order without any details is basically Kickstarter and that’s not a good thing. Taking money with no expectations of what is being released or when is sketch
Frank establishes a delivery date based on production of physical media for already released albums, totally different from taking pre-orders for an album with no tracklisting, Art, release date or title and bundling with merch to pad first week numbers
He’s on Jimmy Fallon Tuesday night, I’m like 99% sure it’s coming this Friday. I’d be surprised if he dropped the 26th because that’s when Cordae’s album comes out and they’re boys and he wouldn’t want to overshadow it, plus he’s on a song
I really liked that new song on colbert. I cancelled my vinyl order (well, waiting to hear back on a cancel confirmation anyway). Gonna re order just CB. I can’t justify $40 on an incomplete Acid Rap, bothers me.
