Did you complain to Ticketmaster about it? Something similar happened to me at the Blink show last summer. I wrote to them about it being an obstructed view and we had to move 30 rows up to find empty seats with an actual view......and their response was that by me admitting we didn't remain seated in those original seats I forfeited my right to any sort of compensation. Fucking absurd lol
Also didnt realize at first he samples End of Beginning by Djo for Back to the Go. Idk as a Chicagoan this album is absolutely hitting for me lol
His brother posted that they were trying to phone bank (like you would if you were working for a politician running for office) the other day to get people to buy the album but I just feel like the 6 year wait after what was deemed by the public as a bad album was not the move…I feel like a lot of people probably have no idea he even has a new album out, whereas back in the day people would have naturally known.
i find it generally enjoyable. definitely better than The Big Day. i enjoy his attempts at a big political semi-panafrican message, however he just doesn't have the depth at that sorta thing.
Got around to it and I don't see it ever touching the classic mixtape trilogy but this is definitely a great course correction, I really enjoyed the more mature sound and subject matter, and it was amazing to hear him and Vic together again. I'm glad that he's back on track and I'm excited to see where he goes next now that he really knows what his audience wants from him
highly recommend this 2021 song if you've never heard it. think I ran it back a dozen times the first time it came up on my Release Radar.
Oh yeah I'm probably one of the world's biggest Vic Mensa fans at this point haha so I'm super familiar with his catalogue but it can never hurt to share his shit!
I’m with you here and I think I’ve liked every release of his a little less than the previous dating back to Innanetape, but when he writes a hit it’s a playlist staple for me. it’s also obvious he’s going through a lot mentally, pretty much all of the time, it seems. Obviously just hope he’s happy and making the music he wants to at the end of the day.
Finally got around to listening to this and was surprised by how much I liked it. I like the back half of the album a lot more than the front. I may go see him this fall depending on the set list, and based on how it’s selling, I think I’ll have more than enough time to decide. attaching Phoenix below, is anyone concerned about this thing getting cancelled? How are other dates doing?
Oh man that's a significantly bigger venue than what he's playing in DC; he's just playing a GA room here. Is he doing amphitheaters on some dates too?
This is how the Chicago show/hometown show is selling so far: Which honestly…I know the show is still over a month and a half away, is not great. He used to be able to sell out shows here really fast. Even the Acid Rap 10 year show I went to at the United Center in 2023 sold out instantly.
a big problem to me at least is the choice to play at northerly island (which sucks) in the middle of october
I didn't even know they held shows there in October. Thought it was strictly summer. Bonehead decision. I like the album quite a bit.
The Chicago show is in five days and looks like this This is just crazy to see because he was such a big name in Chicago who had a big draw at his peak and was #1 at Lolla in 2017 and now can’t even draw well at Northerly Island (approx, 11,000 capacity). I know he lost a lot of the popularity he used to have but still, Chicago is his hometown after all.
