I hope so. The track list hasn’t been released yet, everything is blurred except for the eight you get when you preorder.
Kinda expected antisemitic conspiracy theories on the track with Jay Elec, just didn't think they'd come from Chance
Ugh, I must have missed that. I think this is pretty good. I wish it had some more energy at times and more interesting hooks, but he sounds pretty locked in on the verses. As someone who didn’t even hate The Big Day as much as most people, I think this is a clear step up, although I don’t know how much I’ll actually return to it.
I did not finish The Big Day when I started it a couple weeks ago, but 4 songs in and this is...worse
I stopped listening. I think it lacks any of the charm or weirdness that made me like him in the first place. Neutered by the negative press of the last one
HA, different strokes! Maybe it's because I'm listening to this while working, but I'm just liking the chill vibe to most of these songs. Nothing has come off as too corny or trying too hard to be a hit. The Highs & Lows seems like a good barometer for the vibe of the album.
To me the problem is that it feels like it’s lacking passion or personality. There’s nothing surprising me musically or lyrically on these tracks
I’m enjoying it! He’s rapping really well on this. Not as many chances taken as Coloring Book, which has its pros and cons.
I listened to a bit of this and I just don’t think Chance is for me anymore. I remember enjoying his music a lot in 2016 when Coloring Book came out but I just struggle to vibe with it these days
Yeah, I think I’m still just a sucker for his voice. I think the production here is mostly inoffensive (at best) and other than a couple tracks there’s almost nothing to latch onto melodically, but I think his rapping is good and I guess that’s enough for me to enjoy a Chance album at this point
I think the hook on Back to the Go is great, its nice to hear him and Vic. This album is infinitely better than TBD. Some of this reminds me of more of the lowkey songs on 10 day and Acid Rap but more mature obviously
Will give the album a listen later, and this is a random vent that has nothing to do with it, but his LA Forum Acid Rap show was one of the most frustrating concert experiences of my life. I bought front row seats just off the stage (the cushion comfy ones, I know, boujee) and he had the most obnoxiously large camera right in front of our entire section for the entire duration of the concert. Figured he had to be making a movie or something for it but never saw videos from it. here’s a video from it if yall care lol but rant over, just feel a little salty every time he pops up now haha.
I mean yeah, but it’s technically obstructed which is quite frustrating when buying what are supposed to be one of the best seats in the venue.
man i used to love chance but this isn't doing much for me. his rapping is great, he's definitely locked in there but the beats aren't interesting, the songs run a tad long, it lacks energy, the hooks aren't very catchy save for a couple. it's all just very underwhelming, especially on a day where something like dijon is overshadowing it for me.
