I skip every skit on every album unless it’s tacked onto a song

 

There's more than a handful of solid tracks on that album

I don’t think Big Day is bad but rather deeply unmemorable

 

none of his albums are really great TBH. Acid Rap and Coloring Book are fun, but I really don't return to them often nor ever feel a desire to

 

Acid Rap and Coloring Book are great, and even 10 Day is solid. The Big Day is not AS good as those but it is/was definitely way overhated.

 

The impact of the “oooh I love my wyfeeee” meme feels more than null during that album cycle

 

He doesn't have any good full albums, they all have multiple stinkers and multiple good to great tracks

 

I think “Coloring Book” is solid from front to back.

 

Some of it has aged pretty poorly IMO, particularly the Kanye and Jay Elec features

 

I get it, but I’m not gonna retroactively judge an album because two features turned out to be pieces of shit. Kanye is barely a feature.

 

sure, but it's also just a sound that screams mid-2010's. which is fine for transporting me back to that time, but it's an album that's very much not "timeless" in that way.

 

I still disagree, but that’s da magic of music!

 

Just off the top of my head, All We Got, DRAM sings special, both Blessings, and How Great are all terrible with mixtape being downright horrendous

 

yeah those are all songs I would immediately skip if they came on

Mixtape is a fun song

 

His best work overall remains his verse on “Ultralight Beam.” But “Same Drugs” is pretty great too.

 

I’d throw 65th and Ingleside in there

65th and Ingleside, Long Time II, Summer Friends, Everybody's Something, etc. etc. idk I feel like Chance's discography has weirdly become underrated. The first 3 albums I think are largely great, with yeah a few clunkers here and there but idk I think most hip hop albums aren't consistently great front to back with some exceptions (Care for Me by Saba for example).

 

there are plenty of front-to-back great albums within the genre. you just have to search harder for them now
