today i thought about how this album tied together themes and ideas superficially present on Purpose, Pablo, and Views and made them more potent and personal, and therefore more effective and even included two of the artists behind those works
Going from Mixtape to Angels is such a weird emotional roller coaster for me. By the time Mixtape is ending I am really unhappy with the song and bummed at the album, then Angels starts up and gets me happy again. Mixtape is horrible, honestly don't understand where anyone finds anything redeeming about it
Maybe because that verse sounds like he's asleep/mumbling/doesn't care to be there? And it does not please my ears to hear him rap like that? Even if you like it, you shouldn't be surprised other wouldn't
my point about skipping yachtys verse specifically, not the song more broadly, is that it is unoffensive, its not like it's j cole at the end of "planez" or something.
Shall I begin to list all the things that I don't understand how anyone likes, but people still do? How about Trump, or Brokencyde, or black beans?
the point was that if you cant understand why someone likes the song dont react like a total tool when someone is like "i dont understand why you DISlike it" you nerd
I honestly think Angels still might be the best song on here. If I hadn't heard it months ago it would have blown my mind on my first listen-through
