This is definitely growing on me. I've been listening to it on my way to work every day since it's dropped, so unfortunately I only make it up to "Angels." I think it's going to be a Top Five album this year, for sure.
Glad love for Mixtape is picking up. Just finished my first listen, and was surprised knowing that people were hating on it a page or two back.
Good question! Haha. Probably because that would require logic. I've listened to the album in full a few times, just not before work.
It took me about five listens to realize Same Drugs is essentially about Peter Pan and then my head exploded. I'm embarrassed it took me so long to figure out but I love those "OH SHIT" moments in music
on first listen it is good not blown away but good the songs i like the most are juke jam mixtape and no problem
Am I the only one who didn't really like this on first listen. I mean, it's (objectively) good, but I was hoping for more of a "rap" record, I guess. I'll listen to it a few more time through, and I'm sure it will grow on me a bit... I dunno...
@s12sim I'll definitely give it more time to grow on me. I'm a huge fan of Acid Rap and 10 Day, and enjoy Surf enough, but I prefer the more hip hop stuff.
the producer of "all night," kaytranada, is great and just put out and excellent debut album himself Kaytranada - 99.9% (2016) • forum.chorus.fm
All Night has grown on me. I still think it's one of the weaker songs but that's not really an insult with an album/mixtape/whatever like this
Of course Kaytranada produced All Night. I didn't realize that before but it's so obvious now. Song is such a party, just like his album. Could easily see it slipping in there.
