The screenplay was on The Black List in 2021 and it was picked up in 2022. it's not a stretch to assume it was written or conceived 3 years prior to it being on anybody's radar.

 

Of course not but that happens all the time and they don't decide that they have to stick to the year that the screenwriter sat down at his computer.

The reason I find it so interesting is because, in some ways, it is harder to account for the changes needed in a small gap versus a large gap. If you make a film in Ancient Rome or during World War II you are going to hire specialists who scrutinize every detail, but a lot of things are going to get mixed up with a shorter gap. Uncut Gems was deliberately set in 2012 for the Garnett games to make sense but then had a few mixups like anachronistic song choices.

EDIT: And I'd argue a few of them (Detroit, Minnesota, etc.) are for cold and not the sun.
