    run away with me Platinum

the thought of Luca listening to Hit Em Up Style by Blu Cantrell is so funny

I love that Patrick was basically what Jean Ralphio would be like in real life

I’m not sure why I expected to hate this, but pretty blown away by how great it is.

But for the love, enough with the slow mo.

Jesus Christ this was so damn good. Such a thrill ride. I remember being very unsure after seeing the trailer (honestly looking back, the trailer gave away too much of the film imo), but this skyrocketed to my top of the year so far (haven’t seen much, but it’s 1 by a considerable margin). The script is superb. There are so many stylistic choices made in this movie and nearly every one of them worked, it’s the best epic Zendaya has been in in 2024 imo. Josh O’Connor is a star and Faist is no slouch either. Pure star power in every single scene. The best Reznor/Ross score since The Social Network…and maybe their best ever.

I go to most movies with my friends that are a couple but we avoided seeing this one together for the optics lol

Heavy agree on the trailer giving away too much. Also doesn’t even feel like a trailer for the movie we got, either. And the movie we got was better!

Honestly, wasn’t as big of a fan of this as I was hoping! Loved the score and thought the acting was great. But it didn’t come together emotionally. Overall just good to great

like all of his movies I’ve seen better than this one!

“I’ve been playing tennis for 17 years” is basically a Ben Shapiro take

My “I’ve been playing tennis for 25 years” take was that Zendaya hired an incredible coach because she had so much of the proper footwork for the role.

I also had a visceral reaction to Patrick’s serve, but that’s also the point.

Can’t stop thinking about this movie.

I played my most competitive tennis during 2006-2010, I absolutely loved seeing the appropriate racquets that they were using. The Head Flexpoint that Donaldson was using is the one my best friend used, and seeing Tashi using the Wilson NCode line was a flash from the past

I walked out of the theater texting my friend like, “They actually followed the correct summer tournament routing!!!” Though, the idea of an Open seeded player playing a challenger circuit stop still makes me chuckle inside.

I’ve still got my Federer Wimbledon NCode from high school as my main play around racket. It really needs re-strung, now that I think about it.

Lol yeah, the whole conceit kind of didn’t make much sense, but it worked for the dramatic framing of the 3s relationship ha

that line lasted forever - my friend had his from 15 years until he smashed it in frustration. My next Wilson only lasted 4 years before it got a stress fracture at the base

I do agree the over use of slow-mo got out of hand.

That 12 frame per second sequence in the parking lot is probably going to go down as one of my absolute favorite scenes of the year
