i mean hey, he's a collaborator with purity ring and grimes, hah. he's not just some no name dude but he's also one of the best live performers i've ever seen
no im just saying he plays very very small local shows here, and i didnt realize he had any tie to Born Gold just from the project name buzzing around town.
Thanks for hyping up this record! I knew I'd love it when you said it's a weird pop album and somehow all the ideas work
You Are My Compass is my highlight here, but I'm coming back to this. Parts are a little overwhelming, like Cecil has too many ideas and not enough song to fit them in, but the hooks are damn good
It's just really all over the place! I find his poppiest tendencies to be endearing but I wouldn't fault some for thinking it bordered on a little much at times. Wasn't meant as a knock at you or anything, I was just predestined to like this given my well-documented love for all of his projects so it's cool to see how people new to him are receiving it so warmly!
I listened to this while driving home from work last night and it was very interesting, but only All Of My Heroes Are Dead and Die Old really clicked with me immediately. I’m gonna give it some more listens, for sure. There’s a lot going on here.
im obsessed with this. also the screaming in die old sounds straight up like some early The World is... screaming
This has been a pleasant surprise this year. Such an interesting sound and the vocals are a real high point here. I've had the choruses for You Are My Compass and Hyphen repeating in my head for a while.
