Jamming some Perfect Pitch Black right now. "Off to Ruin" through "Down the Drain" is such a fantastic run of songs.
Plus all their side projects which sounds super daunting. I'll probably start with Kid Killowat considering how I'm still just getting into Cave In and Converge.
That's a good bet. After that I'd probably go first two Stephen Brodsky solo records --> Mutoid Man --> Old Man Gloom --> Octave Museum --> Zozobra, and then anything else
Yeah Mutoid Man and Zozobra are the main two essential ones for me. Old Man Gloom too though it seems more like an Isis offshoot than a Cave In one tbh
Aaron Turner is! Also if you wanna get reeeeeal technical Doomriders could be included too, and they're awesome
Isis' vocalist is one of the three vocalists in OMG. Pretty sure the drummer is his bff who isn't in other bands too
Old Man Gloom drummer Santos was also in Zozobra, Forensics, New Idea Society briefly ————— as far as Cave In related projects, I think this is almost all of them STEVE solo Mutoid Man Kid Kilowatt (Ester Of Wood Rosin) New Idea Society Converge Pet Genius Octave Museum Holey Moleys Ringfinger Zozobra (live, one album cycle) Old Man Gloom (live, one tour) Adam And Steve Not Adam And Eve CALEB Old Man Gloom Zozobra Strike 3 Icarus Line (live, handful of shows) ADAM 27 Nomad Stones Zozobra King Duane Sunapee Clouds Kid Kilowatt Bodega Girls Rock Possible (short lived cover band) Adam And Steve Not Adam And Eve JR Nomad Stones Zozobra Pet Genius Doomriders Placer Goatsnake (one EP)
Jeeeez, good looks on that. I haven't even heard all of those haha. Never listened to Placer or Strike 3
Tides is fantastic, absolutely Creative Eclipses is a bridge between their metalcore and space rock releases. "Luminance" is one of their best songs and the Failure cover is sick. Planets of Old is essential, covers all of their styles well. The Bootleg EP is worth tracking down as well. "Acid Rain in the Black Forest" is a cool bossa nova style track So yeah hope that helps. PM me if you're looking for harder to find stuff
Since I'm still only familiar with Jupiter and UYHS I wouldn't do it justice. Big Riff, and The End of Our Rope would forsure be on there. Honestly all of Jupiter.
Just getting into Cave In. I went with Perfect Pitch Black to start with just after scrolling through this thread. It fucking rules so far.
Probably one of my favorite newly discovered bands. I listen to Jupiter, and Until Your Heart a lot. Need to give the other full lengths a shot.
