sequel where he comes back to nyc a few years later thinking everything died down and then gets blamed for 9/11
i saw the trailer for this so much but never knew it was an Aronofsky joint until finding this thread. wild.
I haven’t watched an Aronofsky movie in yearssss but I might catch this one later in the week. Looks fun.
this and the fountain are the only two i’d ever consider watching again requiem, wrestler and black swan are good but i don’t need to ever see them again. haven’t seen pi. noah, the mother and the whale range from meh to shit from a butt
The Fountain is probably his second best film but it isn't very good. Someone at the old forum called it "bro-intellectual" and that has stuck with me for all these years.
this was a fun time. definitely suffers from a bit of tonal whiplash, there were a few “this just got extremely serious” moments where I spent 10 mins unsure if the movie was falling apart or not. Butler impressed me a lot playing a “normal” (despite being ludicrously attractive) guy. I knew he could do the brooding quiet thing but he really sold the “this dude’s in over his head and permanently on the verge of crying” energy in the second half.
it was. they obviously did the songs but then they also performed the score parts that were written by a more typical film score composer
