I had two for about 12 years, but then we decided to add a kitten when the two senior cats started not getting along. And of course you can't just get one kitten, so we got two, bringing my feline count to 4. This is one of the younger residents, Shelly Johnson.
She's an addict. Her food bowl beside it is in the middle of the floor from dragging it all over the kitchen with her nose trying to lick every last bite. I end up tripping over it almost daily lol
Lol idk why this looks like a corporate photo and in the yellow would be their background and interests presented when they're being introduced as a new employee to the team
Seeing the bite marks all over the box really made me laugh after. My little idiot. Lol. She eventually just gave up and fell asleep against my leg.
Last year, we started seeing this group of cats in our neighborhood when we would take our kids to the park. There were four of them, and they're so friendly and cuddly, much more than the other outdoor cats we usually see. They even jumped into our stroller a couple times, and we totally fell in love with them. We eventually happened to see which house they belonged to and talked to the family a bit. Then we didn't see the cats our for a while this spring and mentioned that we missed them, and turns out that they hadn't been out much because all three of the female cats had litters, so they had 14(!) kittens in their house. My wife had always wanted a grey cat and this felt very serendipitous so we couldn't resist. Long story short: Here's Newton! Still in the introducing phase (he hasn't met our other two cats yet) but he's super chill with us and the kids so far.
I was scrolling through old photos of my cat (I'm talking like 7-8 years ago) and I noticed she's quite a bit skinnier these days, to the point where I can feel her spine. Idk if that's normal for an elderly cat (she's 15), but she still has a ton of energy, remains food-obsessed, and has no issues going to the bathroom. Dunno if I'm paranoid of there being a health issue causing weight loss, but thinking of taking her in for a check up haha.
Not to scare you but I would take her to the vet. That’s what happened to Buttercup and she didn’t last long unfortunately. Though she did also start eating less.
Thanks, I appreciate the concern! I would be especially worried if this little food addict suddenly stopped being a nuisance with her begging, but I do agree it's a good idea to get her checked out. It's been a couple years since her last vet visit.
it's definitely normal as they get old, they lose muscle mass. since there isn't any change in behavior or appetite, i would not worry too much about it but also would definitely recommend taking her to the vet at least once a year, especially as a senior
