Anyone have any advice for managing their cat post op? My boy had a surgical biopsy and we’re definitely struggling a bit with it all. We bought him a play pen as a confined area in the living room with his food, water, and littler, but he just knocked over his food and water bowls and made a mess. It's also hard to tell if he wants to eat as the only time he goes for his food is when his cone is on. We've tried taking his cone off for meals, but he's uninterested at that point

My sweet boy is toothless now. Surgery went well and he was less loopy this time when I took him home. He already ate a full can of cat food and drank a bunch of water so he's doing good. Long live Chester to many more toothless years

Been volunteering at the same cat cafe/rescue for the past 1.5 years. I’m moving soon and looking for some side work to help keep with the higher rent (i’m gonna live on my own) and it turns out the owner wants me to work on the weekends when they have guests visit!

i couldnt think of a better side gig to have, getting to just be around the cats and socialize with others who love cats and are probably interested in adopting one.

I'm going away on a work trip tomorrow and dropped my cat off at my sister's place and it breaks my heart. She hasn't left the apartment in years, and last time was a few years ago when she had to go to the ER for dialysis after a bad reaction to an NSAID after surgery, so she doesn't associate a car ride with good things anymore.

I texted her fiance (my sister is on her bachelorette till tomorrow), and she hasn't come out from under the dresser since I dropped her off 7 hours ago. He left food out a few hours ago and she hasn't touched it. Which really is unlike her - she's like a relentless dog with food and eats anything and everything if you turn your head for a split second.

I know she has to acclimate to things and calm down, but she's 13 now and I just worry about the stress to her. Ugh.

Having to leave them is always hard but she can definitely handle the stress, cats are tough! I'm sure she'll start to relax soon once she realizes nothing else is happening. She's 13 years young and gets to stay with family rather than some crappy boarding situation and it sounds like she's in a bedroom which is probably a nice calm environment. I bet she'll be eating in no time and will hopefully explore the space a bit tomorrow.

You could try to facetime her if you feel like that might help either of you!

Thanks! Yeah I know in my head it's pretty normal cat behavior, I just worry and feel bad lol. I hate the thought that she could think I ditched her for good, especially after my ex moved out after us living together for 8 years with the cat. Luckily our other sister is out from Colorado for our youngest sister's bachelorette too, and she has two cats. Both of my sisters are huge cat lovers. So I'm sure they'll help bring some calm to her. The fiance is a really good dude, though, and has been keeping me posted.

Might try face timing my sisters from the hotel tomorrow :P.
