She appears to be doing ok today, but since it hasn't been a full 24 hours of kidney flushing, the numbers we see today won't be as accurate as tomorrow. Best case scenario, her kidneys won't be 100% good again and she will have chronic kidney disease. Could be another week or so of at-home care after we get her back, likely with subcutaneous injections, and she'll need a special diet and medications going forward. They think she just has a genetic blood disorder that was going fine for now, but had a bad reaction with the NSAID she was given after surgery. It makes me so upset to know she would be fine if it weren't for a stupid anti-inflammatory drug. I mean, she would have cancer from her tumor if we hadn't gotten the surgery, so it's kind of a lose-lose situation.
My cat corky that we had when I was growing up had kidney issues. She was put on a special diet and got a treatment once a month and lived for 3-4 more years.
My cat also has kidney issues. Born with only one that’s functional. He’s a siamese-mix (a snowshoe) and I hear that’s supposedly common in the breed.
Thanks all, makes me feel a bit better when hearing others have had similar experiences. Just got back from them letting us visit her in our car! She definitely looks better and was trying to escape the crate a couple times, so she has some energy in her. Hoping for more good news tomorrow!
My parents cat just sits on top of the fridge and stairs at the cabinets as a new hobby the last few days. Years ago their previous cat did the same thing!
