hooper shouldn’t have been allowed to direct anything else after the kings speech. glad this disaster happened to finally (hopefully) put him out to pasture.
Usually I’d advise against a cam but really you don’t have to worry about quality when it comes to his movie. I’d say download away - I know I did.
Honestly, had a better time at this than something like "The Lion King" that was super safe and boring. Not that it's not an unmitigated disaster, but at least it was insane.
ok so I've been going back and forth on this and I'm unsure which is worse. I had a worse time watching cats. I think that lion king is much more cynical moviemaking with a truly empty heart whereas cats is at least making choices and swings big enough for it to fail so spectacularly. lion king atleast has a story? and Billy Eichner and Donald Glover?
I enjoy big swings and misses more than I do just stale, personality-less filmmaking. The only bit of character "The Lion King" had was Eichner doing some Apatow movie-like riff-offs for a few minutes. It was absolutely boring from start to finish. "Cats" was horrible for pretty much all of it, but at least it had moments that left gobsmacked at the wild choices they made and Ian McKellen's part was oddly touching.
I got like twenty minutes into this and had to take an extended break. gonna be hard to push through to the end
This is more a bone to pick with the musical rather than just the movie, but...the Railway Cat?!? What? Why? And there was just like a whole 5 minute song about riding on a train?
If you're seeing this, could you at least buy a ticket to Uncut Gems or Little Women and then sneak in to this instead?
Just sat down to see this, brought booze with me. If I drink every time a cat is introduced through song/ a cat says Jellicle am I gonna be alive after?
